I have just come across your website after a google search, and I think you may have the answer to my problem. So here goes, bearing in mind you're talking to an enthusiastic novice!..........and I do mean NOVICE.....lol. The Asus A8V Deluxe Motherboard does not recognise my new Maxtor Diamond 10 (80GB) Sata hard drive. In the BIOS the "On board promise controller" was ENABLED. The "Operating mode" was set to RAID.I made sure I had the 2 "MakeDisk.exe" Floppy disks (Viaraid and Fastrack promise controller). I plugged the serial cable to SATA 1 on the motherboard........connected the power cable......powered up the PC and could feel the disk spinning.
Then it all went haywire!
No hard disk detected!, press F1 to resume......so I did..............I managed to load win xp.........pressed F6.......loaded the "Makedisk. exe" floppy disks.....................when it came to setup windows, there was no disk recognised.
Where did I go wrong?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
P.S. I only have the one hard drive.

I do, now.
:)
Came across your blog when searching for a template for a web dev resume.
I hope you don't mind if I use your resume as a template.

Of course, senior web developer is not what I am, but hopefully I will be a good web developer one day.
