Well, about a year ago, I was looking for a job, and wrote this handy dandy Craigslist Search Utility which will search all the Craigslist.org cities job sections. I was tired of having to go to each individual web site for Craigslist and manually search.

Just type in your skillset like “perl mysql” and check the telecommute box (I wasn’t really interested in re-locating). And Poof!! You get all the matches from all the CL cities! Clicking on a job title will popup a window which goes directly to that posting on the craigslist city site.

I originally posted on another SEO Blog I run, and someone eventually picked it up and posted it on these forums. Now my “little util” has spread by word of mouth, and it’s currently getting a few thousand visitors per month! Go figure, I posted it one place, viral marketing at it’s finest.

I contemplated buying a domain, and re-writing the software (as people have suggested) to search all categories, in addition to jobs. But so far I have no motivation or time for that project. Maybe when I’m unemployed again (knock on wood - I like my current job)

I set up a site that will email you whenever an ad that matches what you want is posted. With this service you can be the first one to find and respond to any ad.

Try it at: http://craigslist.craig2mail.com/

One can use Google custom search engine to selectively crawl all cragislist pages for particular jobs. Google’s CSE gives ability to define URL patterns and specific terminolgies. I personally use them to my benefit when I need them

You can use a program I wrote that searches the job sections as well as all the other sections such as for sale and gigs. You can also setup automated searches that run at a user defined interval and email you all the new results found in the cities of your choosing. Check it out at http://bouncingknee.com/?page_id=24
