I recently purchased the LG VX8100 cell phone for Verizon. I bought it with a $50 + $150 mail-in rebate from LetsTalk.com, making the end cost for the phone $28 (CA taxes).

I had a heck of a time finding the manual in PDF format through LGE.com. Because of a corrupt pdf file, after emailing them, they finally replied with a link that didn’t work in FireFox. I had to use cURL within Cygwin to redirect the output to a local file.

Anyway, I saved the LG VX8100 Feature and the LG VX8100 Manual for you all to download and read without the hassle.< /p>

Have a look at the some of these accessories for the LG VX8100 while you’re looking up how to use it. I’ve found that a bluetooth handsfree set is a *must have* if you talk on the phone while driving. I’ve avoided many a close-call driving over the hill to silicon valley everyday. I honestly cannot say this enough, once you get one you’ll understand, and ask why did you risk it with the one-hand on your head driving.

If you have dogs that like to chew on your things (or possibly kids?), it’s nice to protect your phone with a carrying case or in the event you drop it. I’ve already had to replace one phone from my dog having his way with my LG VX8100. Not a bad price for $7, the other option would be to purchase the insurance plan from your phone company for an extra $5/month. They would replace the phone, but it’s a $50 deductable.

A car charger can be great for when you’re stuck in traffic or on the side of the road with a dead cell battery. One thing to keep in mind is that the cheaper chargers will *destroy* you’re cell phone battery if you use them on a regular basis. It’s best to get the kind that shutoff automatically - and then only use it in an emergency.

Thank you so much for putting the manual on there!!!! I just got the USB cable to access the filesystem on the phone, and I copied an MP3 to the phone, but I cant figure out how to get the song to play. :)

Try the two forums linked above, someone on the LG forum has instructions on getting MP3’s to work with the phone as ringtones.

“I had to use cURL within Cygwin to redirect the output to a local file.”

well, it was either that or use Internet Exploiter - which I refuse to do until they get on board with open standards. ;-)

Hi, Chovy :c) Thanks for posting the LG VX8100 manual on your blog (nice blog, by the way)… I accidently locked my phone and forgot the code and I found out the the code was the last four digits of my phone number. Thanks! You saved me a lot of trouble.

Anyone figure out a way out of Verizon’s “Walled Garden”??

The openwave browser they use has read-only for Address.

Thanks for posting the LG VX 8100 manual. Even if one has the printed manual, searching a pdf file is easier and faster and is an excellent backup to the printed version. THANKS AGAIN!!! — gratefull in NH 20051028 11:00

Hey no probs. You’z my peeps.

By the way, after carefull thought and evalution of this phone. I personally would NOT recommend it now (the browsing/user experience is very painful once the novelty dies off).

My next phone most certainly will have Linux on it.

Motorola has one already.

Google:”Linux mobile phones”.

Thanks for posting the VX8100 manual. The only problem I’ve had is the speaker phone was cutting out and any background noise would over ride my voice, after 3 days I took the phone back to Verizon and exchanged it, now everything is working great.
Thanks again

I have downloaded the pdf manual for the LG VX8100. I still don’t understand how to put MP3’s on the phone (without buying a memory card) and play the mp3 from the phone. I also see in the manual that the phone can be connected to a PC via USB but where on the phone do we connect the USB. A cable did not come with the phone. Can anyone help?

Thanks so much for posting this! My old phone (a different model) broke, and I had to find a replacement phone off eBay, and it didn’t come with a manual. I couldn’t even find the phone model on LG’s website, and Verizon only had a limited interactive user manual that you couldn’t print.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I was so disappointed that my new phone from Verizon did not include a manual either paper or pdf! It absolutely doesn’t make sense to ship a product with so many features without a user manual. And they want another 16 bucks for a holster, ridiculous!

Yet another thanks for the time and effort. This download was a help. Seerms that LG would have ALL their manuls on their website.

I recently bought the lg vx8100. I accidentally locked my phone and it has not been activated yet. I can’t access anything. I don’t have my phone number because it is brand new. The manual said that the last 4 digits of one’s phone number is the code, but what about if you don’t a phone number? What is ESN? Please help…..
