Google GMail Filter Limit – Unlimited!

24 Aug

Google GMail’s one drawback I’ve noticed so far is that you are only allowed 20 filters.

This may sound like a lot, but I’m on 20+ mailing lists. Mainly, I like to read what’s going on in the industry.

This is the reason I left Yahoo mail at 15 filters, so I’m a little disappointed in Google here.

I may actually revert back to my ISP email and use Squirrel Mail, depending on how it’s functionality is.

Yahoo’s spam filter was REALLY bad too, and no white/black list functionality. I had to burn a filter on “lottery” to weed out the spam getting through.

update: it’s been pointed out by several people to me that they have beyond the “20 filter limit” mentioned on their web site. This is great!

I have to disagree with your findings. I don’t know of any limit on number of filters in GMail. I have 97 filters already set up and all of them are working properly.

You can create an unlimited number of filters, but only 20 filters can forward to other addresses. Combining filters like this is a great way to maximize your filtered forwarding.
