All said and done, the total damage was just over $1100 (thanks to Newegg.com and pricegrabber.com). Seeing as how the last PC I bought new (i didn’t build) cost me $1600, I’d say this is a step in the right direction.
Now, the question is, can I put it all together?
I was hesitant to spend $150 on a 74gb harddrive, but (In)Sanity convinced me it was worth it.
I’m still looking for a good Linux distro, Gnoppix will give me a taste of what Debian has to offer, if it doesn’t handle upgrades well, I will switch back to Gentoo (64).
Hi everybody, Happy Belated Thanksgiving. I had a nice 5 days off from work, and was able to spend it relaxing up in Clear Lake at the family cabin. Had a good celebration with all the family, etc. Even did some gambling at the Indian casino up here. 1 cent slots - gotta love ‘em.

Tomorrow I head back to the Bay Area, and will start building my new AMD64-based PC. Thanks to Central Computers on Stevens Creek Blvd and NewEgg.com, I can build a kickass machine for less than what the same with crappy parts costs.
In other news, I bid farewell to my trustworthiness last weekend, and celebrated my 30th birthday at the Cal/Stanford game. Hoping to see Cal in the Rose bowl…I’ll find out in a week!
Here is a site which stores images from people in the united states who voted for Kerry, or against Bush…called Sorry Everybody. After the result of this election, it’s nice to know we’re not alone, at least those of us who voted against Bush. I personally voted Nader, and 3rd party wherever I could. […]
Here is a site which stores images from people in the united states who voted for Kerry, or against Bush…called Sorry Everybody. After the result of this election, it’s nice to know we’re not alone, at least those of us who voted against Bush. I personally voted Nader, and 3rd party wherever I could. I even wrote in “Tux” for some of the local races, for which I had no idea whoh to vote for. IE - school superintendent, and the like.
The response to this Sorry Everybody site was followed up with Apologies Accepted. Another similar site hosting images of people from around the world who accepted the apologies.
I think it’s fascinating, as the Internet evolves, and the people who use it, to see what kind of fun stuff we come up with next.
